"Pumpkins does Floyd." That's the go-to expression for a description of The Hostage. Although The Hostage often touts the genre "progressive alternative," it just doesn't bite like inciting two of greatest musical ensembles ever. So let's be clear: The Hostage is an alternative rock band and makes no apologies for it. But it's successfully coupled the spirit of alternative rock from the 90s with the epic sounds of the 70s. It's a unique sound, one that lends itself to words like "unclassifiable." But it's an approachable sound, one you've never heard but that faintly resembles a memory. This is "Pumpkins does Floyd." This is The Hostage.

The Hostage was originally formed in 2005 as Stop Star. The move to the name "The Hostage" has raised a lot of questions. And we're not going to answer them here (yet). You're welcome to decide for yourself what the name means; life is bigger than easy answers.

After its inception, The Hostage has performed at multiple festivals in the West Tennessee area including the Mid-South Fair and the Chester County Barbeque Festival. The Hostage has performed at venues including the New Daisy Theater and Minglewood Hall with artists including Ingram Hill, The Becoming, Stereoside, Perspective, and After the Storm.
