St. Mary's Asylum draws on various and diverse influences ranging from funk to post-punk but the synthesis of these elements can only be called "alternative rock". The band as a collective leans in a direction that many recognize as grunge (post-grunge, neo-grunge). The imagery and artistic inspiration of St. Mary's Asylum is the old school horror genre of classic movie monsters and other creepy classics. As a conceptual idea, St. Mary's Asylum is the place where all the members of the band met and bonded to form a cohesive unit of sonic fortitude. Welcome to the Asylum!
