Artist Information
ABOUT ME:
I am originally from Mumbai, India and am currently 21 years old. I started singing and writing music when I was 11. It all started with my first two songs - 'Promises' and 'Hours and Days' which I then began singing to people (mostly my friends and family). With all the support I was getting from everyone close to me, I decided to continue writing and learning more about music.
When I was 13, I learned to play the guitar by ear. I could play a few songs here and there, but mostly I just learned enough to play my songs and make people hear them. I started getting other people interested in making music and recorded a catchy demo in Hindi (Suno Suno) with a friend of mine. When nothing came of that demo, I decided to work on my own again and started recording songs in my dads apartment with his help.
I bought a keyboard and started vocal training as well as theory and ear training with music professor Maureen Rebello. With my dad's help, I started recording more and more songs. The first 3 song CD included my songs 'Keep Track', 'Promises' and 'This is How I Feel'. Those tracks almost got me a record deal with an independent label, but as luck would have it, things didn't really pan out - the label went bankrupt.
Not to be disheartened, My dad and I proceeded to record more tracks with the help of my cousin Mikhail Vaishnav (a great musician himself - he not only writes and composes music, he also plays almost every instrument imaginable). We managed to lay down the tracks 'Sing For The Wind', 'Psychologist' and 'Forgotten Tune'.
Finally, the rough recording of 'Psychologist' reached the hands of prominent Indian music producer Kalyan who instantly loved the song and decided to turn it into something a little more professional. The song was my 'claim to fame', even though it definitely doesn't define my music. I was 18 when I wrote and recorded the song and have come a long way since then.
Soon after 'Psychologist', I moved to Southern California (half the time in LA and the other half in Orange County) and all recordings suddenly stopped as I got caught up in filmmaking (I'm a Film major). Now, I'm trying to get back on track and get my music out there.
I want to state that what you hear here is only a small part of what I'm about. I write songs in all genres because I have eclectic music taste and I believe an artist should offer all types of music so that there is something for everyone. As and when I upload more music, you will see what I mean.
Till then, I hope you enjoy what you hear so far.
Love,
Minoti
