***** A bit about me *****

Hi, I'm Herel from The Netherlands. I started writing music at the age of 15 or so, using paper, a pencil and an eraser (there were no PC's back then to do modern composing like nowadays). In 1998 I was introduced to computer software to actually write music. Finally a way to expose my inspiration, and I could listen to my creations right away!

In 2003, the day after mothersday at 02:05 AM, my wife Conny passed away. She was just 42 years old. Cancer just doesn't care about age...
Ten days after she died I finished my CD called "Remember Conny" - now called "Remember". Conny had helped me alot during the process of creating the music, telling me what she missed, and what she thought was overdone. So in a way, we both worked on the tracks.

* "Spirit of Waves" is not on my CD "Remember" - it is the title track of my upcoming CD.

***** 13 tracks... kind of unlucky? *****

When there were 13 tracks in my profile, Speedbump wrote on my wall that 13 (tracks) would be kind of unlucky. Ok, he said "lol" then, so he was not really serious... I guess. Anyhow, let me explain the number 13 in the numerologic way:

1 stands for the beginning
3 stands for creativity
The sum is 4, which stands for inner peace.

So what's unlucky about the number 13, huh? :)

***** The track "Week Vrij" *****

The translation of "Week Vrij" is "Week Off".

In 1981 I was working in a hospital, and during a week off I wrote this little track. As you can hear I played it live on tape (cassette). Last month I bought a cassette deck for my PC, so now I have all my tracks and songs I recorded on tape in the 1980's on my PC!

***** About the Top of the Morning video *****

Mike Oldfield's "Top of the Morning" was played on Conny's funeral. She loved this piece of music, and she wished she could play the piano that well. Maybe she would have if she was still alive... (yes, we had a piano). Maybe she's playing it where she is now...
Anyhow, I thought it would be a good idea to share this video with you, and I hope you will enjoy it.

***** Jay Steel *****

Jay Steel is one of my (four) sons. He is a well known DJ and artist in The Netherlands, and he is one of SF's artists too.
Inspired by my music, he created a track called Grand Piano, and this track is really worth to listen to!

Like others here on SF I don't thumbs down as a rule. I thumbs up or I do nothing and switch to the next song. There is plenty of material for me to listen to that I can thumbs up without attacking an artists creative vison.
