More on SF Rank for Artists & Member Conduct

Some insight regarding SF Rank and website activity has been provided below to identify quality gaming actions that can boost your SF Rank.

Tips for Improving SF Rank:

1. Accrue Listens & Thumbs-Up votes from individual Labels & Listeners (ie. new people from different parts of the world on different IP addresses discovering and voting on your music)

2. Keep accruing Listens and Thumbs-Up votes by new individual Labels & Listeners over time.

3. Get signed by many individual Labels steadily over time.

4. Get signed by many individual Labels that have successful artists on them.

5. Stick around. Longevity on the site is rewarded.

Actions that do not carry much weight or could hurt your SF Rank if abused:

1. Listens and Thumbs-Up votes from multiple accounts set up by one person.

2. Listens and Thumbs-Up by the same people over and over.

3. Getting signed by multiple Labels with little site activity and a small artist roster.

Other Gaming Actions and Notes:

1. Repeat Thumbs-Down votes by individuals are identified by the Stereofame algorithm and over time have very little impact on your SF Rank. This is also true for repeat Thumbs-Up by the same people. For example, if Listener A logs in and votes for the same 5 tracks every day, those votes will have less and less of an impact on improving that Artist's SF Rank, although points will still be awarded for the action.

2. We have technology in place to limit and monitor multiple users from the same IP address.

Game Conduct:

We take game conduct seriously at Stereofame and want to encourage positive camaraderie between members. Each and every report we receive of suspicious activity is addressed immediately and if the member in question is abiding by all game rules and provides no evidence that the game rules are being abused, then no action is taken.

Community members that report abusive activity are respectfully requested to wait for a personal response from a staff member regarding the inquiry. We typically respond within 24 hours, if not sooner. Abiding by these terms will keep the playing field even for all.

And while we have your attention, we have a question for you! Would you like to see more data regarding your song activity? Currently, artists see the number of listens and the number of thumbs up. Would you also like to see the number of non-votes (ie, people on the site just streaming music for fun) and thumbs-down? Please post your response to this question in the comment area below. We appreciate your feedback!

Stereofame Q&A - How to Get Signed to a Label

Q: Can you tell me how to get sign by labels?

A: There are many Stereofame Labels on the site ready to listen to your material and consider you for their Label. We recommend that you visit the Browse page on the site and click the Label tab to sort through all the Labels. Take some time to discover Labels that are into your type of music by looking at the artists they already have signed and the type of music they have shown in their Listener history. If it looks like a good match, then click the "Submit Music for Label Review" link in the Label's Action area. When submitting your music, be sure to send a personal message describing your work and give reasons why the Label should sign you.

Stereofame Q&A - Outbox Message Coding

Q: When I check my outbox, some messages are pink, some are gray and some are dark gray. What's up with that?

A: If you look in your outbox, there's color coding that identifies the state of emails that you have sent. Here's how they work:

Pink text: Message has not been read by recipient

Gray text: Message has been read by recipient

Dark Gray background: Message has been deleted by recipient
